Frequently Asked Questions About Moving

When it comes to moving, most clients don’t seem to have a clue about what to do and how to go about it. The lack of accurate information about the Do’s and Don’t’s do not help their cause. 1. When should you call your utility companies and let them know you are moving?

You should call at least one month before your moving date to allow your utility company time to change your address and in some cases, they need to come out and check the meters.

2. When should you start calling your bank and credit card company to change addresses?

It is always best to start calling everyone a month prior to moving to let them know you are moving and what your new address will be. In regards to your bank accounts, some banks do not allow you to change your address until you have already moved.

3. Should I pack everything from my dresser drawers and file cabinets?

Yes, you should in every situation make sure that everything is emptied out of all furniture and packed into boxes. It is only a few dollars in packing material and a few minutes of time. It makes moving your furniture 100% safer for the movers and also safer for your furniture.

4. What to do in winter when there is snow?

Make sure prior to your mover's arrival that you have completely cleaned your driveway and all walkways that the movers may need in order to access your furniture. Also, use ice melt on icy areas to ensure that no one gets hurt and/or slips and damages your furniture. Make sure if you use ice melt, it is a product that is safe for pets and that is least abrasive on driveways.

5. Do my movers bring mattress bags and wardrobe boxes?

Unless you have requested for mattress bags and wardrobe boxes, your movers will not bring them. If you want to have mattress bags and/or wardrobe boxes, make sure to call the office and request for them.
