Owner Spotlight : Matt Akins

I’m Matt Akins, proud owner of The Easy Move.

I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.

I grew up in London, Ontario. I started The Easy Move in May, 2007, moving residential and commercial clients and since then our growth has been steady.

I started The Easy Move with the goal of taking proper care of people during a move. We operate our company by putting customers first and treating people the way they should be treated. This is the very reason why we are where we are today. It is only because of our polite behaviour, fast service and gentle handling of our client’s belongings that has brought us this far.

The most enjoyable part of my work is moving people safely to their new homes and providing a good work environment for my employees. I believe in treating my employees the same way I want to be treated.

On a typical work day, I manage my teams so that they arrive on time, in uniform with clean trucks. I speak to many different clients throughout the day and try to accommodate as many people as we can. My office hours are from 8 am to 8 pm, Monday through Friday and 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Our teams of movers generally start at 8 am and work until they are finished.

As an owner, the most difficult decision I face on a daily basis is managing the schedule. I ensure staff don’t become overworked and our trucks are not overbooked. Time management, customer service and employee relations are three valuable skills that have helped me turn The Easy Move into a successful business.

Away from work, I enjoy playing hockey, soccer, going fishing, and spending time with my family. I enjoy being with my children and teaching them about life.

I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.
